Special Criteria: 36 holes, 18 played on Saturday and 18 on the following day Sunday.  Honours Board. Eligibility to win the overall trophy is subject to being in a full membership category and having submitted at least 3 acceptable Scores in Competitions in the 12 months before the date of the competition. Overall Competition based on rd 1 Handicap. Tees: Play should be off the White competition tees for Men and the Red competition tees for ladies. If the respective tees are closed then competitors should play off the tees of the day as placed by the course manager and handicap allowances should be adjusted accordingly.

If, by the due completion date for each round, the match has not been played and the Handicap Committee  has not received a request for either an extension or a ruling on the match outcome (for example, when one competitor is actively seeking to play the match by the due date but is unable to obtain a response from the second competitor), the match will be abandoned and both sets of competitors will either be disqualified or a walk---over result will be decided. In exceptional circumstances, the Handicap Committee will consider a request for an extension. Any request should be made in writing before the due completion date and each will be considered on its individual merits. However, there is no question of any ruling or precedent, which can influence future decisions, being set.  Where extensions are granted, these will not be accepted as an excuse not to have played the following round by the due date. (Note: on the occasion where an extension is granted, both sets of competitors are advised to identify their potential opponents in the next round  as soon as possible and to arrange a provisional date for that match to be played. Date Played: Rounds played October to April with final being played on or by a specified date in April. The date is mutually agreed between finalists and Handicap Committee. Eligibility to win the overall trophy is subject to both players being in a full membership category and having submitted at least 3 acceptable Scores in Competitions in the 12 months before the date of the competition.

Type of comp: Foursomes MatchPlay. Alternate Shots.  Men’s card for stroke indices.
Tees: Tees to be discussed with the course manager at the start of the winter and allowances published on notice board and on email. This dependent on winter course works.  Competitors should only play on whichever holes are open on the day and should agree amongst themselves at the start of the match the total number of holes to be played.
Entrance Fee: £7 per player
Open to 5/6 day members?: yes – a green fee must be paid if match organised on a day not covered by their category.
Handicap: Combined Course Handicap – then 50% of the difference
Prize Allocation: Winners (£150 each) and Runners Up (£100 each)

Type of comp: Singles Match Play. 
Tees: Play should be off the White competition tees for Men and the Red competition tees for ladies. If the respective tees are closed then competitors should play off the tees of the day as placed by the course manager

Handicap: SCRATCH
Prize Allocation: None
Ties: Sudden death play off if tie after 18 holes.
Special Criteria: Each round will be drawn ‘FA Cup’ style and competitors informed of opponent and date for tie to be completed. Entry is open to any eligible member of the club, but if More than 32 players enter then only the lowest 32 handicappers will be entered into the draw.

Ladies Competitions

The following are the competitions which remain for the ladies’ section now that the majority
of competitions are mixed gender.

Competition
Millennium Trophy and Ladies Club Championship This is played alongside the Batty and Scratch Medal and follows the same format. The leadinglady (nett) over the two days wins the Millennium Trophy and the leading lady over the twodays (gross) wins the Ladies Club Championship. Honours Boards.
Captain’s Prize Played as mixed gender comp and the leading lady wins the Captain’s Prize tothe ladies.
President’s Prize Played as mixed gender comp and the leading lady wins the President’s Prizeto the ladies. Ladies Gross Scores – best medal round gross score over the season. Honours Board

Gwen Mason prize This is a Stableford competition and will be played in conjunction with aWednesday Stableford. The leading lady will win the Gwen Mason prize which is funded from alegacy to the ladies’ section.
Farnworth prize This is a Stableford competition and will be played in conjunction with aWednesday Stableford. The leading lady will win the Gwen Mason prize which is funded from alegacy to the ladies’ section.
M&D qualifier This is a qualifier for the Manchester and District Bunty Booth competition.This is being played in conjunction with a Wednesday Stableford and the leading lady willrepresent the Club in the following year’s final.
Coronation Foursomes Foursomes competition run by the R&A. Winners will go forward toregional qualifying.
Taylormade 3 Ball This is a competition run by Taylormade and Cheshire. Best 2 from 3Stableford scores to count. Top 20 scores locally play in final with elite Cheshire players.

Other Competitions (Unclassified)

The following competitions are usually run and format and prizes will depend on the discretion of the Handicap Committee.

Poppy Appeal Comp Format to be determined each year. Played Saturday close to Remembrance Sunday. Donation from handicaps to poppy appeal – usually £150.
Captain’s Charity Comps Format to be decided. Usually double entry fee and donation to captains charity.
AD Hoc competitions Format to be determined by Handicap Committee as and when free Wednesdays or Saturdays occur.
